BEAUTIFUL MUSIC

May 21, 2012

This past Friday I had a lovely experience in the subway, and am sharing it for a very special reason. As I approached the Street exit, I was suddenly flooded with the sound of beautiful music, growing louder with each footstep. The music was coming from two talented musicians, including one playing the violin. I stopped to listen because I have a deceased Uncle who was a violin virtuoso and because the music was incredibly soul-stirring. I stood right in front of the duo, noticing that I was the only one to do so and wondering how anyone could NOT stop to take this in.

The next thing I knew I was crying. Not merely due to being moved, but also due to the presence of mothers – mine and the violinist’s, from the Spirit Side. As I stepped forward to drop some money into her case, she acknowledged me with a nod and smile, then asked if she could play me something special. I wanted the song my mom used to play on the piano, but the tune eluded me, so instead, she played The Prayer. As I thanked her, I felt the familiar pull to give her a message from her crossed-over mother, which I did. The message was about love and hope, answering something this musician greatly desired to know. Little did I know, that later that day, this talented violinist would give me a great gift in return.

A few hours later, as I descended the subway stairs in a haze after an upsetting hospital visit, there were the duo, still playing. My new friend, the violinist asked if I remembered my mother’s special song, and this time the melody floated easily to me. She caught the tune and proceeded to play me For Elise by Beethoven. It was both stirring and healing, bringing my mom back to me for a few brief moments… much-needed moments.

As we hugged goodbye, this talented woman asked if she could play me one more song, in thanks for channeling through her own mom. As she started playing she whispered in my ear, “bring this to the people”. I thought the best way was to write about it. Thank you “A, like Audrey Hepburn”!

My Personal Version Of “The Help”

September 19, 2011

I just saw a fabulous movie, The Help and was moved to write and dedicate today’s blog to my own experience and to the woman who helped raise me, like the main character in the movie. Her name was Margaret, Margy to me, and in so many ways, I owe my life and the woman I’ve become to her.

Margy was our family’s housekeeper. She was also one of the most amazing women I’ve ever had the honour of knowing. My grandparents hired her back when my mom and her brother were little. I owe my life to the fact that they did. She was employed to clean our house, usually once or twice a week and I’m sure when she started the job, she never would have dreamed what an integral part she would play in an as yet unborn little girl’s life… me.

Margy made sure I came into this world safe and sound and if that wasn’t enough, she then loved and looked after me like I was her own. I remember playing cards together, being rocked when I was crying and my favourite activity – playing “Margy swing me”, the game where poor Margy who was attempting to clean the kitchen floor, had to stop to swing me in circles. I erupted in giggles and she never minded. My grandma was always admonishing me not to “get under foot” when Margy was busy tidying the house… and I perfected getting under foot to an art form! How I loved those times with my Margy.

I recall coming home from school one day, where having been teased and prevented from going inside to use the washroom, I had an unfortunate “accident”. I was mortified to go home with soiled underwear and afraid that I’d somehow be in trouble. Margy changed and cleaned me up, (after finding my not-so-well hidden underwear hiding in the hamper under other clothes) then did some laundry so that no one else would know. I don’t think I ever loved her more than at that moment.

Then there was the time I put my foot into a pail of soapy water in a desperate attempt to avoid going to the doctor, a place I loathed. There was Margy to sooth and cajole me into going upstairs, where my mother was waiting, telling me all would be okay.

Margy was also fond of the expression, “time will tell”. When I was older, time told that Margy couldn’t have children of her own, as a result of being pushed down the stairs by her abusive husband. This news greatly angered and saddened me, as the wonderful woman I knew deserved only the best, not a louse of a husband. I know I was the daughter she never had and it was my great good fortune to be so.

My Margy is still with me, but now from The Spirit Side. Sending her gentle, loving energy and the feel of her work-roughened hands in mine, as she twirls me in a game of “Margy swing me”.

On The Spot Predictions – What Can You Tell Me Right Now!?!

June 3, 2011

The life of a professional psychic medium is certainly never boring! One question I’m asked, practically as soon as people know I’m a medium is, “what can you tell me right now?!” Like other pro psychics, I like to prepare before readings… much like athletes preparing before races. Giving on-the-spot messages is akin to running a world-class sprint, but without the benefit of any warm- up laps. Depending on the situation, I’ll do my best to accomodate this request because what I do is also who I am. And because sometimes I’m called to action without any notice due to the fact that the Spirit World waits for no one!

A recent case in point was a meet and greet held at a prestigious Real Estate Brokerage to discuss my giving a seminar – as a former Real Estate Agent, I give talks, positivity coaching and energy clearings to “my former peeps”. I had been warned by the friend brokering (pun intended!) the introduction to “keep it corporate” and not get into my other stuff. Ie: don’t discuss that I’m also a medium. The first thing the Managing Director said to me was, “you’re the psychic, what can you tell me right now?” Okay, “just be corporate” out the window! Closing my eyes for a moment, I gave her the name of her deceased mother, in answer to what her nickname might be… most of her last name (which I hadn’t been told), that someone in the office was battling breast cancer and some other stuff. When I opened my eyes, mouth agape, her next question was, “How soon can we book you?”

When I presented a small teaser for about 20 agents, many told me of “strange coincidental circumstances that drew them in to hear me” and several booked reading, clearing and coaching sessions. An assistant manager heading an upcoming breast cancer fundraiser, asked if I wouldn’t mind predicting the weather for the event and keeping it dry, if I could. I told him it would rain some in the morning, then clear up and be sunny for the rest of the day. He then asked, “Will we hit our mark of $10,000”? Pondering that, I replied that they would hit it and in fact, exceed it! Next an agent who was donating his long ponytail for a wig, to be cut off at the event, asked me if one of their own agents or someone from outside would shave him? My answer from The Other Side was that someone outside the company would do the honours.

Post cancer fundraiser, the Manager in charge thanked me for my positivity and correct predictions. The day brought a little rain until noon, then it cleared up and got sunny, they easily exceeded their ten thousand dollar goal and… the gentleman with the pony tail had it removed by the highest bidder – a woman from The Canadian Cancer Society.  Three for three, not bad!

I really do love this unusual, but highly rewarding career. As George Elliot said, “It’s Never Too Late To Be What You Might Have Been.”

SPIRIT HELP – ON THE LIGHTER SIDE

April 18, 2011

Today’s theme is the lighter side of psychic messages and predictions. For my loyal followers (thank you all!) who may think that spirit help is always of a serious nature, this post is meant to lift spirits… pardon the obvious pun, with true stories of a different sort.

Last evening I attended a lovely intimate dinner party, hosted by two dear friends. Besides great company, fabulous food and wine, there was a psychic theme as well (hey us psychics are FUN guests at parties too!). Our esteemed host is VERY into scrabble, so I suggested a twist on his favourite pasttime – “psychic scrabble”. Spirits like board games too, so as a medium, I thought it would be fun to encorporate the two! Earlier in the day, when the host partook of a little “blackberry scrabble”, he told us of an interesting occurence: his board spelled the name, “Jade”. Since that’s the name I use professionally, ie: JadeIntuitive, it was the spirits’ humorous way of giving a positive sign for the evening. The Other Side sends signs all the time, it’s kind of their trademark. Numerous messages were spelled out, both on the scrabble board and by me directly channeling them, for each guest. The spirits made sure no one was left out. Everything from the name of a deceased grandfather’s beloved dog, to a military relative giving a salute, to a gentleman accurately telling me of his career working the railroad. A delightful night was had by all!

On another occassion, after giving messages to one of my favourite clients, she said she had to ask me just one burning question. Her deceased mom had already provided many accurate details and advice, but here’s what she “just had to know”: how to cook her mom’s famed rice dish! Seems my client and her sister had argued for years on the correct way to make this particular recipe… each remembered it differenty. Mom came through, giving the exact measurements, how many cups of rice, to cups of water etc. Trust a mother to help you make her favourite food just right… even from the spirit realm!

Happy holidays to all, Passover and Easter respectively. Remember to set a place for your “invisible guests”, as crossed over loved ones celebrate holidays with you as well!

LIFE-SAVING PREDICTION

February 27, 2011

This is how the day started, much like any other work day… I arrived at a new client’s home, where I soon would be performing a Reiki healing for her. Pausing in the driveway, I made a call to set up a business meeting for sometime that week. The CEO told me he was available that day, which was a Monday, or on Thursday. Something (which I often call my spider sense, really it’s my psychic sense… I’m actually a bit arachnophobic, ironically enough) told me to book it for that same day, so I did.

Inside, my Reiki healing went beautifully and I also spent an hour talking with the nice woman, my new client. As a lovely aside to this story, she told me the following week that she never could have conducted a big training seminar without having met with me first. My positivity talks and Reiki often have that “unblocking”, calming effect on people.

I arrived at my second appointment, the previously scheduled meeting. I wouldn’t find out until weeks later, the extraordinary results experienced by the gentleman I met with. This was a first meet and greet where my hope was that this influential CEO would like me enough to refer me to some of his esteemed colleagues. I thought that was my reason for being there, but as usual, the Universe had another agenda! He did indeed endorse me, placing a call right then and there to a business friend, calling me “astonishing to listen to”! The CEO, who I’ll call “Bill”, asked me to demonstrate some of my gifts, so I provided him with a mini Reiki healing and an example of psychometry; I interpreted the energy of a valuable artifact he’d been given, as well as a photo of his grandchild. He was further astonished by the accuracy and details I gave him about both. All in all, I was there for three hours… quite a lot for a busy businessman!

The Universe’s reason for the meeting came in the form of an important prediction I made while there. As a psychic and healer, I’m given information which I see, hear and feel to pass on to people. Some of my correct predictions have told of upcoming log cabins, houses, jobs and romances. Often what I see takes the form of  health warnings. The ethics and responsibility of doing this work correctly dictates that I supply messages with care. So I gently told “Bill” that I saw a brain disturbance happening with him. He didn’t know what I could possibly mean, at the time. That’s because I was foreseeing a future event. This prediction helped to save his life.

Three days after our meeting and my prediction, “Bill” suffered a stroke. He was sent home by two doctors with the instruction to simply take an aspirin. Perhaps having my message uppermost in his mind and feeling something more serious was wrong, he took himself off to another hospital, where they gave him a catscan and MRI. It was confirmed that he’d had a stroke and this hospital immediately checked him in. As health warnings all over the news tell us, strokes are serious brain injuries and need immediate medical attention. The faster the treatment, the better the chance of recovery.

Luckily “Bill’s” stroke was relatively mild as I understand it, and his speech and ability to eat and walk are returning. He’s improving nicely he tells me, expected to make a good recovery. He also has been telling people about the brain problem that a psychic named Jaye McKenzie predicted to him during a meeting. Boy am I glad the Universe made sure I knew to make that meeting on that exact day. Because you see, three days later…  the Thursday he suggested… may have been too late!

Take good care of yourselves and listen to your intuition.

Happy Chanumas!

December 13, 2010

What do you get when you mix one part Channukah with one part Christmas? Chanumas!! I made this word up when I was a kid in honour of blending these two wonderful holidays… yup, I was lucky enough to celebrate both in my family. I remember driving downtown with my gram and gramps to gaze at the Christmas windows done up by The Bay – like many kids, I looked forward to that all year. But not just because of the windows filled with colourful, moving displays… I loved going for car rides and adventures with my grandparents. Gramps made everything into a story, a glorious adventure and gram brought cookies and other goodies to eat along the way. Gram never left home without some form of food in a baggie, in her purse. You never knew when you might get stranded without, heaven help us, any food to eat!! It was a jewish tradition, this great love and worry over food. Plus, my gram was the best baker, known for miles around for her pies, pin wheel cookies, cakes and lemon tartes. I’m happy to admit I rarely leave home without some back-up food to this day. Partly because as a holistic healer, I follow the six small meals a day way of eating; and partly because doing this  helps me to feel closer to my gram. When we keep up  traditions, it really does keep our deceased loved ones closer in our hearts. And they love seeing this from the Other Side, it brings them nearer to us as well!

Back to my story… when we arrived home after seeing all the pretty windows and lights on houses, (we had to drive some distance to see the lit up houses, no Jewish house in our neighbourhood would be caught dead with Christmas lights… pun intended) a surprise would be waiting for me. Gramps had put up a Channukah bush, as he called it – his effort to pay homage to my Scottish half. A really sweet and meaningful effort, all things considered. Thanks gramps!

I celebrated the Christmas side of Chanumas on Christmas eve / Christmas day with my parents and my Nanny. Twas the night before Christmas, marked by the exciting drive to pick my grandmother up, dad’s mom, and bring her home for the holiday. She was special for many reasons, not the least of which was her extraordinary psychic ability, which I have inherited. But on Christmas, Nanny was special because she thought she was the female Santa Claus!! She arrived with several shopping bags overflowing with presents and it was my job to place them carefully under our tree, real of course. Mrs. Claus, aka Nanny, wouldn’t have it any other way. How I loved that job; so many presents, so little time! We had eggnog, I was allowed to open one gift at the stroke of midnight and fell asleep with dreams of sugar plums dancing in my head. Oh, that was also because I danced with The National Ballet of Canada and knew every song of the Nutcracker by heart!

In the morning, Nanny and I had her favourite, a grapefruit half with honey, while I waited impatiently for my parents to wake up. They weren’t morning people and alas, neither am I these days, laugh. Mediums tend to be night owls (evidenced by my writing this at 2 am). In our home there was an order to opening presents, little to most significant, my mom’s order. It was a good one, as the best was saved for last. The day was also marked by my dad’s famous turkey and all the trimmings. He was the cook of the family, and he did it well. Still does, though my mom and his mom are now there in spirit… too bad they miss the yummy food tastes… but not much else. Our spirit loved ones join us for special occasions. I think mine enjoy the pulling of the holiday crackers the most! For those who don’t have a big family to celebrate the holidays with, or any family at all in some cases, please don’t feel that you’re alone… your family and friends surround you. Even if you can’t “see” them, they ARE there, sending you love.

I hope you enjoyed my holiday story. Wishing joy, peace and abundance to my loved ones, friends and clients both here on earth and on the spirit side. God bless us… everyone!

Happy Halloween, Medium Style!

October 31, 2010

Good evening all,

it’s  Halloween night, the time when spirits are at their strongest. Oh, you thought it was the night of goblins, witches and things that go “Boo!” Well, there are those things as well, and candy… lots of candy, but mostly, there’s good old-fashioned ghosts and spirits. They like the holiday as much as we humans do, especially when there’s a full moon to give them added strength. I’m referring of course, to earthbound ghosts, those who haven’t crossed over into the light and spirits, those who have crossed. Either may be seen this night. Look out, there’s one right behind you!!!

Last weekend I cavorted with the crossed over spirit kind, on a full moon in Chicago, Illinois. One of my wonderful clients brought me to her windy city for a special edition of the group psychic mediumship parties I’m known for. I worked from afternoon into early the next morning giving readings to all the good people in attendance. One fellow even came all the way from Ireland! Wow, that’s pretty far, I was flattered! He had a charming accent and demeanor to match. I connected folks with parents, grandparents, friends and relatives on The Other Side. There were tears, there was laughter and many wonderful messages. One woman “recognized” me from a past life we shared together (that happens once at every event I do) and another gentleman’s spirit folks asked me to take and hold his hands. We shared a memorable heart connection for those few moments which I shall never forget. A lot of love flowed between myself and the two clients responsible for this amazing weekend… the one who lives in Chicago and the one who got me there. We are all now close friends as a result. Other memorable moments: ladybugs, stew and lightning high (93 stories) atop the Hancock building. Sincere thanks to all who took part and made it such a success. And by that I mean both the living and the dead!

Enjoy this night for all things sweet and scary. Happy Halloween from your Small Medium.

Small Medium Comes To Chicago!

September 13, 2010

I am thrilled to announce that I’ve been invited to Chicago, otherwise known as “the windy city”, to give readings at a special group event! Wow! This will be my first trip to Chicago and I can’t wait. One of my clients, very excited about the readings and life coaching I’ve given her long distance, is organizing this event to bring me there live, on Saturday October 23. I do a great many sessions by telephone, this will be a wonderful opportunity for me to see new faces and places. Next stop… Oprah!

For those of you who are wondering why I usually sign off with the tag line “Small Medium over and out”, I’m finally revealing the answer: because I’m small, (well, okay… short) a good friend of mine with a clever sense of humour quipped one day that I should call myself “The Small Medium”. Finding it rather catchy, that’s become my handle. Nope, never drove a truck, though I have worked in radio, so there you have it. Small Medium conquors the windy city. See you all there!

Small Medium over and out.   Please visit my website or email me at: jadeintuitive@yahoo.ca  to make an appointment for in-person or telephone readings, Reiki healings, spiritual counselling/life coaching or personal appearances.  Please note, there may be a waiting list of up to several weeks.  www.jadeintuitive.ca

Serving The Servers!

August 20, 2010

People have been asking me more and more lately, how I balance a regular life with my irregular career as a Psychic Medium. It’s a good question and the answer is… striking a balance is sometimes tricky. While I’ve learned to turn my psychic abilities on and off, somewhat like a tap, there are times when it spontaneously occurs as I’m doing day-to-day “human Jaye” stuff. The Spirit side I work with knows this full time profession of mine is indeed a calling… so sometimes it simply “calls” on me to help.

Case in point, two seperate incidents where I was out having lunch on one particular day, and dinner on another, then found myself bringing through dead relatives as an un-ordered side dish! During dinner with my producer, discussing our newly-completed paranormal TV show proposal to be hosted by yours truly, I kept thinking about what a lovely man our waiter was. He was indeed a sweet fellow and a good waiter, but someone in particular was directing my attention towards him… his deceased mother. She was so persistent that I finally asked our server if I could pass a message along to him. Ethics in my field, as well as common sense, dictates that we mediums musn’t just blurt out messages from the dead to the living. Our waiter happily sat down beside me, eager, though stunned to hear from his mom on The Other Side. She told me of difficult times before she passed, but talked about how much her son was there for her and how he’d looked after her. He confirmed all these details… including the phrase she often used to describe her son, “a lovely man”. Before leaving the restaurant, my new friend told me he’d called his girlfriend without waiting for his shift to end, to pass along the amazing details of this last talk with his mom. I left with most of my dinner in a doggy bag, as there wasn’t time to actually eat it. That’s okay, I love doggy bags!

Later that same week I was having lunch with another friend/business person when I found myself asking him if he felt nauseous. As a medical intuitive, I often pick up on physical symptoms of others close to me. Nope, he said he felt fine. I mentioned that our waitress must be having some tummy problems.  Trying to enjoy the fresh salmon sandwich I’d ordered, I did my best to tune out the feeling that someone in spirit wished to talk with her. As you might guess, I finally gave in… the persistent gentleman was her deceased grandfather who started by telling me she was having real-life problems in her relationship with her dad. This, the waitress told me was true, and so her fathers’ father continued. His intention was to help heal the father/daughter relationship, as well as to send love. He and his grandaughter had been very close. He acknowledged the waitress’ sister as a doctor, another bang-on detail, talked of her going back to school and put his (my) hand over his heart… a gesture depicting his pride at being a war hero. Why had I been feeling a sick feeling in my stomach? Spirits often identify themselves by how they died – he’d been poisoned by his enemies post war. Yup, another day of the doggy bag for me.

What I do is also my life, so it’s all good.  But next time you see me at a party – I may just want to blend in and have fun like everyone else. After all, you can’t squish appetizers and frothy drinks into your purse… purses make poor doggy bags!
